For my son’s 10th birthday, I decided to blog and reminisce (read “How I Knew He’s a Traveller, Too!) about the first time we went out-of-town and visited a friend who lived 2 hours away from Manila. It was a trip that made me realize that my son can withstand long hours of travel and the inconvenience of being out of the comforts of his own home… at 11 months old. Since then, I’ve dragged him along to almost all of my trips. Soon after, he was already a part of my travelling group’s epic travels every Holy Week.
The Filipino version of the “Wandering (Mom & Son) Tandem” actually came from my Facebook photo album entitled, “Barok & Mokong: Ang Lakwatserang Mag-ina.” The photo album chronicles our (Mom & Son) travel (mis)adventures since I was 3 months pregnant and stubbornly travelled to Camiguin. As of today, the album contains 76 photos from all our trips to 23 Philippine provinces and 11 Asian countries.
Since so many people have liked the photos and the places we’ve been to, I’ve decided to “expand” that Facebook album. Friends have seen the photos, why not share with them the stories behind it?
And this is what the “Wandering (Mom & Son) Tandem” is all about. This blog will chronicle all our travel (mis)adventures all over the Philippines and in Asia. This will also contain even the little weekend wanderings we do here in our city, Manila. But more importantly, (forgive me for this!), I will have my own venue for bragging my son’s small (but important) achievements. Oh, yes! I’m a Mom and I’m pretty sure every parent out there can relate to this.
So, welcome to our “Wandering (Mom & Son) Tandem” blog. I hope to encourage parents, and children as well, to travel and see the world. Not because we have kids, meant we cannot travel anymore.
I haven’t.
